Our client engaged us to design a lightweight HSCB Tester for their electric passenger train maintenance.  Routine inspection of the HSCB is performed on the train by maintenance technicians in accordance with the TMP Technical Maintenance Plan.  Their previous HSCB Tester weighed in excess of 25 kilograms which could cause stress and stain injuries when carrying the equipment, it was also damaged frequently due to its design and the components it used. The design brief was for a ruggedised, lightweight unit that was simple to use.
